چکیده

This study aims to investigate the activating effect of Na2CO3 and NaOH on the workability and mechanic strength of slag-based alkali activated materials with different alkali contents and water to binder ratios. The heat release during the reaction process of slag activated with sodium carbonate and sodium hydroxide were monitored respectively to analyze the hydration process. Meanwhile, the workability and compressive strength were also tested with two types of activators (Na2CO3 and NaOH), two different dosages (5% and 7% of equivalent Na2O by slag weight) and three different water to binder (W/B) ratios (0.37, 0.45 and 0.5). The results show that the reaction process of slag activated with sodium carbonate is much slower than that of sodium hydroxide activated one, and its reaction phase happens approximately 40 h after the dissolution phase, and in all cases, sodium carbonate gives the higher fluidity and compressive strength with the same Na2O content and W/B ratio.

The influence of TiO2 and Na2CO3 on the viscosity and crystallization behavior of mold powders

Mold powders are fluxing agents used as raw materials in the steel industry, which play very important role in processing stability and final surface quality of a product. Surface quality depends particularly on the viscosity and the heat transfer of infiltrated mold flux between the mold wall and the solidified steel shell. Heat flux across the interfacial gap depends on thermal properties of ...

INVESTIGATION ON SLAG-REFRACTORY INTERACTION IN LADLE USING COMPUTATIONAL TECHNIQUES

Abstract: Thermodynamic computational packages MTDATA and FactSage have been used to carry out calculations on the variation with temperature of the phases precipitated on cooling in both oxidising and reducing conditions of a typical ladle slag composition, in the temperature range 1700 - 900°C. The current coverage of the databases associated with the computational packages is discussed i...

Investigation of Rutting Performance of WMA Mixtures Containing Copper Slag

Copper slag (CS) is an abrasive blasting grit made of granulated slag from metal smelting processes. As copper slags are known to be waste material and cause a lot of environmental problems, it would be a good idea to use them in different sections of industry such as pavement construction. On the other hand, in order to save energy and reduce the amount of pollutants re...

Optimization Mechanism of Additive of Composite Sodium Salts on Vanadium Oxidation of Siliceous Shale

The promotion of strengthening of vanadium oxidation by compound additive of sodium salts is described from the changes of the vanadium valence state and mineral phase. The results are as follows: during the roasting process, dehydroxy mica converts to the melt, which the composite system mainly contains Na, K, Al, Si, and O. Under the action of NaCl-Na2CO3, ion exchange between sodium and pota...
